Hattie's parents were Lester Joel Canright and Catherine Eliza Curtis Walker Canright, who married Sept 13, 1863, after the death of Lester's first wife, Phoebe Cooper Canright.

Hattie Canright had many siblings. Her mother Catherine had 3 sons from a previous marriage, her father Lester had 2 sons and 1 daughter from a previous marriage, and Hattie was at least the third child from the marriage of Lester and Catherine.

Hattie's cause of death was drowning.

There is much confusion regarding Hattie's life, because Lester and his first wife, Phoebe, had a daughter named Hattie G. Canright that lived from Feb. 1, 1862 to Feb. 13, 1863. Lester and his second wife, Catherine, named two children Hattie A. Canright and one child Hattie G. Canright; all died young. Research indicates Lester named 4 daughters Hattie. All died under the age of 2.
