BIOGRAPHY
ABRAHAM BOHNER

Abraham Bohner, son of Jacob & Catherine (Catharina) Deibler Bohner, was born Dec 13, 1818 in Mifflin Twp, Nortuhmberland County, Pa.

Abraham grew to manhood in Pa and on Oct 11, 1842 married Kasseya Stamm (also called Caziah, Casiah, Cass or Catherine). In 1850 Abraham and his wife were residents of Mifflin Twp, Dauphin Co where Abraham was a Saddler by trade.

In 1862 Abraham's only child, William Franklin, was born. In 1869 a group of Evangelicals, including Abraham and his brothers David and George, moved to Polo, Ogle Co, Il. Abraham soon established himself as a shrewd businessman where he engaged in real estate speculation. In the book "HISTORY OF OGLE COUNTY, BUFFALO TWP, ILLINOIS" for the year 1878, lists Abraham Bohner as a [Speculator] living in Polo, Illinois.

In 1883, Abraham & Caziah moved to Perry, Dallas Co, Iowa where he again became a leading businessman and capitalist. He accumulated a great deal of wealth through the sale of horses and acquisition and sale of land around Perry Iowa and in South Dakota. He owned property on 2nd Street in downtown Perry that was known as "The Bohner Block."

The April 1885 Dallas County, Iowa Census listed Abraham, age 66, retired, as living on Third Street In Perry, Iowa. Kasseya, age 63, his wife, was listed as "housewife". In 1889 he served on Bd of Dir for the Commercial Bank and Northwest Loan & Trust Company of Perry Bank. While in Dallas County, Abraham had not been identified with the church militant, as he did not live near a church organization of his first choosing, but he was described as a faithful student of the Bible and, at heart, a deeply religious man.

On Dec 26,1895, at the age of 77, Abraham married Elizabeth Reager Grimm of Pillow, Dauphin County, Pa.
