Leonard Lonnie "Lon" Long was born Thursday, April 16, 1891 in Morgan County, Alabama, to Solomon Winston "Wint" Long and Malindy Hicks Long.

Painter Found Dead in Hotel

Lon Long, 56, Decatur painter, was found dead this morning in a room at the Tennessee Valley hotel.

Morgan Coroner Bev. T. Howell, who investigated, told The Daily that death was caused by a hemorrhage.

The body was discovered by a maid about 9:30 a.m. It is believed that the last person to see Long alive was a porter, who went to his room about 9 a.m. Wednesday to collect the rent.

Long checked into the hotel Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Johnson's chapel. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery, Mutual Service directing.

Surviving are four brothers, Robert Long of Hartselle, Sol of Moulton 2, W. T. of Decatur 1 and Marvin of Danville; three sisters, Mrs. W. T. Puckett, Hartselle 2, Mrs. Levie Moore, Danville 3, and Mrs. Florence Thompson, Hartselle 2.
