Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Lorene Hamby Robinson, age 79, of Bastrop, will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with the Bro. Loyd Townsend and Bro. Junior Slade officiating. Interment will follow at the Hughes Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13th at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.

Pearl Lorene Robinson was born July 9, 1929 in West Carroll Parish and she passed away at home on Monday, January 12, 2009. Mrs. Pearl Robinson was a former employee of International Paper Company before she married her husband Paul. Together they moved to California in 1952 where Paul was stationed with the Marine Corps. It was while living in California that her son Clyde was born. The family moved back to Bastrop in 1954 and Pearl took on her new role as a homemaker and gardner. She loved to can and she was a very good cook. She loved taking care of her family and being involved and active in the Hughes Chapel Methodist Church. Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, Earnest Hamby and Lorene Caffery Hamby and by a sister, Ruth Jones.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Paul H. Robinson of Bastrop; a son, Clyde Robinson of Bastrop; two granddaughters, Amanda Robinson of Houston, Texas, and Ashley Robinson of Bastrop; six sisters, Minnie Halloway and husband, Michael of Sterlington, Hazel Nations of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Myrtle Porter of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Tina Atkins and husband, Thomas of Bastrop, Gloria Lebrun and husband, "Junior" of Farmerville, Louisiana, JoAnn Turner and husband, Colin of Bastrop; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Charles Jones, Billy Jones, Wayne Jones, Jack Jones, Roy Jones, Ernie Turner, Russell Hall, and Russell Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Robinson and Melvin Joe Robinson.
