Mr. Jahnke was born Sept. 15, 1907, in Sisseton, S.D. He moved with his family near Frazee, Minn., where he attended school. He later served with the U.S. Army during World War II. After his military discharge he returned to Frazee, where he worked for the Bob Taylor Mink Ranch, the Zack Taylor Mink Ranch and the Robert Rethwisch Farm. On May 7, 1960, he married Margaret Foster in Detroit Lakes. She died in 1963. He entered the nursing home in 1977.
He is survived by four sons, Michael (April) Jahnke, Aurora, Colo., Wayne Jr.
(Bonita) Jahnke, Detroit Lakes, Raymond Foster, Minneapolis, Charles Joseph Foster, White Earth, Minn.; four daughters, Rosetta (Jim) Sauck, Twin Valley, Minn., Donna (Ken) Niemi, Callaway, Minn.; Diane (Arnold) Johnson, St. Louis, Mo., Delores (David) Rousu, Callaway; a brother, Erick, Iowa; a sister, Edna Grindberg, Fargo; 42 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday from 4 to 8 in David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, and one hour before the funeral in the church.
Funeral: Thursday at 11 in St. John's Lutheran Church near Detroit Lakes.
Burial: St. John's Lutheran Cemetery near Detroit Lakes.
