"He was born in Arcadia, Kas., and lived here 11 years. Mr. Charlton was a security guard at the Vendo plant 11 years. He was a member and past master of the Fulton Masonic lodge and Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg, Kas. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Florence Charlton of the home; a son, Rex D. Charlton, 7718 Longwood, Kansas City, Kansas; a daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Jessip Cunliffe, Nuevo, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Flossie Robbins, San Pedro, Calif., and seven grandchildren.

In the 1930s he worked as a Merchant Marines in San Pedro, LA County, California. After his marriage to Juanita Marion Maxwell on 27 June 1935 they moved to Mill Creek Township and then to Timberhill, Bourbon County, Kansas, where he farmed. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri in about 1957.
