Farmer

Bud grew up along the Wood River in rural Saskatchewan, in the area of Lafleche. In 1937, he was in Powell River, British Columbia, working at the mill. In 1939, in Saskatchewan, Bud married Margaret Elizabeth GILMER (b. 1915). Four sons and a daughter were born to the union. Bud's working years were spent as a farmer, farming the same land that his father had farmed, and raising his children in the large house that his parents had built in 1918.

In addition to his five children with wife Margaret, Bud also had a daughter who was born in October 1937. Circumstances compelled the mother to place her child for adoption. In 2017, autosomal DNA tests revealed the old story.
