Services for Dean Shirley Douthit were held Wednesday April 13, 1988 at the Solt Funeral home with the Reverend Bob Neben officiating. Burial was in the Central City Cemetery.
Mrs. George Brandes was the organist and Joel Ferris sang "What a Friend we have In Jesus" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."
Pallbearers were Leroy Dexter, Virgil Kuskie, Ernie Shelton, Roy Crutzberg, Michael Gonsior and Dick Lippincott. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Wait, Roy Kaiser, John Mundt, Neal Hartford, Harold Brandes and Cheney Shelton.

Mr. Douthit died on Sunday, April 10, 1988 at the Litzenberg Memorial Hospital in Central City. He was born on June 22, 1924 at Horace to Edward and Cora Clapp Douthit.He received his early schooling at District #19. He had been a resident of the Central City area since 1934. Mr. Douthit was a farmer.

He married Betty Bartlett of Loretto on July 13, 1945 at Phillipsburg, Kansas.
He was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church and he belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1981 at Fullerton.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of Central City, one son, Larry Douthit of Lincoln, one daughter, Judy Douthit of Lincoln, three brothers; Ellis of Cedar Rapids, Dale of Crawford and Milton of Grand Island; two sisters, Mrs. Thayer (Marjorie) Smith of Caldwell, Idaho, and Mrs. Nino (Dorothy) Petroni of El Cerito, California; and two grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Earl and Donald.
