Bevil Rice died before Sep 13, 1827, when he was listed as deceased in the marriage record of his daughter Rebecca. He may have died before Feb 26, 1812, when he is listed as the father of Mary Rice in Shelby County, Kentucky marriage records. Most other contemporary marriage records of Shelby County do not list the father.

He married Elizabeth --, who was the mother of at least two of his children, identified in marriage records, below.

His name appears in the Jefferson County, Kentucky Marriage Books for four of his children. Abbreviations: wt. is witness, bd. is bondsman, c.in.w. is consent in writing, c.p. is consent proven, clk is clerk, f. is father, m. is mother, B. is date of bond, M. is date of marriage. The four children:

"Mary Rice, d. of Bazel," married Robert Hollis, Feb 26, 1812, according to Kentucky Marriage Records, Shelby County 1792-1830, p. 771. Shelby county is adjacent to Jefferson County, near Middletown, where Rebecca Rice's and Thornton Cornwell's son Floyd Cornwell was born.

"Cornwell, Thornton; bd. Thomas Grant; wt. E. P. Pope. Rice, Rebecca; f. Bevil Rice, dec.; m. Elizabeth Rice, wid., c.p. L. & B. 9-10-1827 M. 9-13-1827 Ben. Allan" (Book II, June 1826 - June 1837, p. 13)

"Wilson, John; bd. Thomas Nuckels; wt. D. T. Hardin, D. C. Rice, Letitia; f. Bavel Rice, dec.; m. Elizabeth Rice, c.in.w. (X), 3-8-1830, wt. Thomas Nuckols L.& B. 3-10-1830 M. 3-8?-1830 Wm. M. King" (Book II, p. 45)

More research is necessary to connect the above Bevil with the Basdle Rice who was in the Revolutionary War. According to the Index to Revolutionary War Service Records, Vol III, L-R, transcribed by Virgil D. White, p. 2252, "Rice, Basdle, srv as Pvt in 1st Regt of Light Dragoons in Cont Troops."
According to the Abstract of Revolutionary War Pension Files, Vol III, N-Z, transcribed by Virgil D. White, p. 2863, "Rice, Bazdale or Basdel, VA line, BLW # 1472-100- 18 Feb 1829 issued to sol's brother John and Peter Rice, it was also stated, to see the claim of George Rice BLW # 1471." The 100 indicated 100 acres. On Feb 18, 1824, John Rice signed a receipt stating, "Received from the War Office a military warrant, number 1472 for 100 acres of land issued to the heirs Basdel Rice a soldier of the Virginia line in the Revolutionary War." Other documentation in the file reveals that Bazdale was never married.
According to the Pension List in KY Rev War: Bazdale Rice VA line pension Bounty Land Warrant 1472 100 (National Archives microfilm pub M804, Rev War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant).
According to a Revolutionary War Bounty Warrants file card: "Rice, Basdell - Soldier - Army Cert. - Lt. Chas. Yarbrough Voucher 1784." The voucher reads, "Certified that Basdell Rice was enlisted as a soldier in the first Regiment of Dragoons in June one thousand seven hundred eighty and served until the close of the War & received no pay. Chas. Yarbrough Lt. July 28th 1784. Thos. Meriwether." Basdile Rice is the signature on the document in the file, which reads, in part, "I do assign the ??? to James Jinkins." The document was witnessed by Benjamin Mosby.
According to the records of the Kentucky Secretary of State, a Land-Office Military Warrant No. 2778 was issued to Basdill Rice for 100 acres. The warrant reads:

"Land-Office Military Warrant, No. 2778 To the principal Surveyor of the Land, set apart for the Officers and Soldiers of the Commonwealth of Virginia. This shall be your Warrant to survey and lay off in one or more surveys, to: James Jenkins (?) of Basdell Rice his Heirs or Assigns; the Quantity of one hundred Acres of Land, due unto the said James Jenkins in consideration of Basdill Rices Services for three Years as a Soldier the Virginia Continental line (?) Certificate from the Governor and Council, which is received into the Land-Office Given under my Hand, and Seal of the said Office, this 18th Day of March in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and 84." Rather than claim the land, he sold the warrant to James Jenkins.

The Catalog Card on file in The Library of Virginia, Land Office Military Certificates, shows a Basdiel Rice, private, who served in the Virginia Continental Line, Military Certificate Number LO 2778, original documents in box 157, 15.
