William Cuyler, known as "Bill" Cuyler, was born January 5, 1923, to Edward and Pauline (Dahl) Cuyler. He was raised in Marquette and in January of 1942 was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served his country until being honorably discharged in 1949.
On March 17, 1946, Bill married the former Rosa Hufnagl. Following his discharge from the U.S. Army, the couple moved back to Marquette, establishing their home and raising a family. Bill was employed with Varvil Lumber Company and later with the Marquette Public Schools working as a carpenter and maintenance man until his retirement in 1984. In his leisure, Bill had a passion for building and repairing clocks, bird hunting, fly fishing, and woodworking. He was a member of the Marquette Masonic Lodge #101 and a member of the former Marquette VFW Club.
Surviving were his loving wife, Rosa Cuyler; two sons, Edward (Penny) Cuyler of Marquette and David (Mary Miers) Cuyler of Niles, MI; grandson, Brad (Melissa Zuraski) Cuyler of Negaunee; sister, Jean Daugherty of Lake Orion, MI; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill Cuyler was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Johnson.
