English Musician. John (sometimes spelled Jhon) Balance (born Geoffrey Burton) was an English experimental musician best known for his work with Coil (which he formed with his partner Peter Christopherson). He was also an early member of Psychic TV, and frequently collaborated with Current 93. He is considered to be an influential figure in the industrial, experimental, and neofolk music genres. He was active from 1979 until his death in November of 2004. His primary instruments were vocals and keyboards/organ, though he also played bass guitar, violin, and the Chapman Stick. He died on the 13th of November, 2004 as a result of head injuries suffered in a fall in his home.
