Samuel Fites served in Union Army as a Private, Co. F, Regiment 4, Enlistment State New York, he was Fatally wounded in battle, noted he died from Vulnus Scopet which means Wound inflicted by gunshot in the pelvis. He died at Old Soldiers Home at Mt. Pleasant General Hospital in Washington D. C. He never made it back home.
