Arnold served as a Private First Class in the 331st Infantry, 83rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided at 114 Bidwell Ter., Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 5, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a sheet metal worker and also as Single, without dependents.

He was "Killed In Action" near Langenstein, Germany during the war. Langenstein had a German concentration camp which they were trying to liberate.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
