Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday in Old Union Baptist Church near Joyce with Rev. Dub Fussell and Rev. Joe Mosley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Winnfield.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin Higdon and John Higdon, both of Winnfield; a daughter, Mrs. Ola Gates of Winnfield; four sisters, Mrs. Lottie Abrams of Pineville, Mrs. Ola Baker of Shreveport, Mrs. Irene Mixon of Cotton Valley, and Mrs. Myra Peters of Winnfield; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bobby R. Stanfill, Grayson Harper, Jimmy R. Gates, James E. Gates, and James Brown.
