Rena Maggielean (Eddings) Foster Simmons Pitts, was born March 19, 1912, and passed away on January 8, 2009 in Grapevine, Tx. at the age of 96 years old. Ms. Pitts lived in Lufkin for several years before moving to Grapevine where she has resided for the past 6 years. She cared for several elderly people in their homes and hospitals up until the age of 85. Rena will be remembered as a Godly woman who lived her life for others. She has left a legacy of unconditional love. Survivors include her daughter, Johnnie Foster Cummins; grandchildren, Linda Anderson and her husband Bob; Debbie Tucker and her husband Art; Dianne Clark and her husband Jim; Mark Cummins and his wife Cecilia; Duane Cummins and his wife Karen; 14 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members. Funeral services for Ms. Pitts will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Gipson Funeral Home with Reverend Carrol Hambrick and Reverend Mark Cummins officiating. Interment will be at Freeman Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the Gipson Funeral Home.
