MRS. J. Y. FERGUSON on last Friday, June 6th, 1890, left Hartselle accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Roope, for Bessemer, Ala, to visit her daughter, Mrs. Sallie Thurman. She stood the trip exceedingly well for one who was in feeble health. At night she retired feeling very well, during the night her spirit took its flight to the Spirit land. She had been a sufferer for a long time with a heart and lung trouble......
On Sunday moring, her remains were brought up from Bessemer accompanied by her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. J. L. Thurman, Mrs. Roope, and Rev. Wood. She was buried at Forest Chapel on Sunday evening. She was the leading spirit of the Forest Chapel Methodist Church. She leaves a husband, three sons and four daughters.
