Mr. Evans V. Heath died at his home in Waynesboro following a short illness of typhoid fever. Mr. Heath had been ill several days and was thought to be getting along very nicely when a sudden turn for the worse came. Mr. Heath was born in Burke county at Girard, the son of the late Justin B. & Mary R. Heath. He was about 35 years of age and had lived all his life in the county of his nativity. He was educated in the schools of the county, going to Emory College for his literary education & the Law School of the University of Georgia where he graduated in 1911. His college career was marked by a record that any man can be proud of. He took a high stand especially in debating & oratory. His record at Georgia was also one of merit after which he returned to practice his profession. He was highly regarded by his associates of the Waynesboro bar as a lawyer of ability.
In 1913 and again in 1915 he represented Burke county in the legislature and later as a state senator from this district. He was vice president of the senate and made an able and efficient presiding officer in the absence of the president. He retired from active politics and it was only at the urgent request of friends that he was induced to make the race for the mayor of Waynesboro.
As a citizen he was regarded as one of the best. He took an active part in the civic and religious welfare of his community. He was a steward of the Methodist church, a member of Alee Temple Shriners & a member of Waynesboro Lodge No. 275 F. & A.M.
Mr Heath married Miss Florence Fulcher and had two children bless their home, one daughter Mary and one son Evans Jr. He was a loving, kind and considerate husband and father.

Mr. and Mrs. Evans Heath had a baby boy in Feb. 1910.
