Lewis Richard Chandler, 82, of Goodview, Va., passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009. He was born on May 15, 1926, to the late Floyd Gray Chandler and Rowena Gertrude Kesler Chandler. Lewis was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was a retired farmer and also retired from Smith Transfer after many years of service. He and his brother, Gene, operated Chandler Brothers Marina for 15 years. Lewis was a long standing member of the Pine Spur Hunt Club and S/C Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Omega Chisom Chandler; three daughters, Melody C. Mitchell and husband, Danny, of Hardy, Tammie C. Hartberger and husband, Mark, of Goodview, and Amy J. McGuire and husband, Freddy, of Goodview; grandchildren, Richard (Richie) Mitchell, Chelsea Hartberger and Abby McGuire; greatgrandchildren, Trevor Mitchell and Landon Bale; and one brother, Floyd Eugene Chandler and wife, Norma Jean, of Goodview. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2009, from the Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Joey Phillips officiating. Burial to follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at the funeral home. Flowers will be appreciated but donations may be made to the Stewartsville / Chamblissburg Fire Department. Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
