HENRY GUNNETT Of Duncansville, one of the veteran iron workers of this section of the state, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Mutzabaugh at 9.10 o'clock yesterday morning of old age. He was the son of George Washington and Margaret Acker Gunnett, deceased, and was born at Beavertown, in Blair county July 17, 1833, being aged 80 years, 9 months and 13 days. He followed the iron industry all his life. At various times he was employed at Hopewell Furnace, Bedford county, Martha Furnace at McKee, Rodman Furnace at Rodman and Sarah Furnace at Claysburg. For twenty-one years prior to the closing of the Springfield furnace he had charge of the plant. He worked at the Curtin Iron works at Bellefonte for some time, also. In 1880 he came to Duncansville and was employed at the rolling mill there for a number of years. On July 23, 1830, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Treese of Springfield Furnace at Martinsburg. She died May 13, 1885. Ten children were born to this union of whom the following survive; John of Altoona, Mrs. Amelia McClain of Duncansville, Mrs. John Merritts of Altoona, Mrs. H. J. Isenberg of Johnstown, Mrs. George Mutzabaugh of Duncansville, Benjamin F. of Altoona and J. William of Duncansville. One brother, Frank of Philadelphia also survives. Mr. Gunnett was well known in Duncansville and vicinity. He was a good citizen and always took a civic interest in his hometown. He was a member of the Fifth Avenue Methodist church of this city.
