Mrs. Stella S. Poland, 86, of Sumner rt. 3. died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 30, 1885 in Bond Township, Lawrence County, daughter of Peter and Martha Shidler Akers. She was preceded in death by her husband, 0. G. Poland.

Surviving are two sons, Eugene of Sumner rt. 2 and Sherman of Evansville, Ind.; seven daughters, Mrs. Vivian Kemper of Evansville, Ind.; Miss Vera Poland and Mrs. Leah Ferguson, both of Sumner rt. 3, Mrs. LaVange Stallard of Lawrenceville, Mrs. Winona Hart of Oblong, and Mrs. Arva Smith of Bridgeport, and Mrs. Geneva Spillman of Sumner rt. 2; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Juda White of Hazelton, Ind.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Sivert Funeral Home in Sumner, with Rev. Don Grimes officiating, assisted by Rev. Silas Christian. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday.
