Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hillside Christian Church with the Rev. Roy S. Wheeler and the Rev. Greg Corona officiating. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Mr. Burchfield was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Shamrock, Okla., to Theodore and Vera May Burchfield. He attended Lefors High School. Arlie served in the U.S. Army for a short period of time. He relocated to Dumas and started working for Shamrock Oil & Gas. Arlie moved to Amarillo in 1960 and continued working for Shamrock. He retired in 1990 from Diamond Shamrock after 43 years.

Since 1963, Arlie had been a softball umpire, and in 1992 he was inducted into the Texas Amateur Softball Umpires Association Hall of Honor. He was a member of Amarillo Senior Citizens as well as Southeast Kiwanis Club. While Arlie was a member of North Amarillo Christian Church, he served as an elder and as a Sunday school teacher. Arlie was most recently a member of Hillside Christian Church and part of The Fisherman's Sunday School Class. He really enjoyed doing word search puzzles. Arlie was a lover of all sports, but most important to him were his children and grandchildren. He will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
