He was in the Battle of Mewtonia, MO on 5 Oct 1862; the Battle of Fayetteville, AR on 24 Oct 1862. After that he became ill with the winter disease which is what is now called pneumonia. He never recovered from that and yet is was in the Battle of Springfield, MO on Jan 8 and 9, 1863. He then died on 9 Feb 1863 from pneumonia.
