Irvin Milton Barnes was born to Benjamin (of KY) and Lucretia Simms Barnes. According to my sources, Irvin's siblings were: Shadrack, William H., Julia A., Thomas M., Tarlton, Tilton, Rebecca, David D., Elias E., Sally, and Parker Barnes. He went to Texas at the age of 17. He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War and lost an eye. He was married 3 times. He married his first wife Sarah (Sallie) Elizabeth Miller on August 12, 1853, in Denton, Texas. They had 2 children together: Mary Belle and Alexander. Irvin married his second wife Mary Anna Curry in 1870. She passed away about 2 years later. They had 1 child together: James Taylor Barnes (he passed away at 8 months old). Irvin's third marriage was was Mary Ann Moreau. They had no children together and are buried next to each other. According to the death certificate, he was listed as a farmer and 90 years, 2 months, and 24 days old when he passed away. Causes of death were listed as chronic intestitial(?) nephritis and senility. Abe Barnes of Guthrie, MO, was listed as the informant of his death
