Lawrence Odis Conway, son of the late Joseph and Jane Conway, was born Jan, 5, 1906, at Rat, Mo., near Bunker in Shannon County and departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 28, 1981, at the age of 75 years, one month and 23 days, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.Lawrence was united in marriage to Alma Hicks on March 21, 1925, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1975.He was preceded in death by his father and mother and brothers, Johnny, an Infant, Lonnie and Robert (better known as Doc).He spent 35 years in St. Louis working the public as a car salesman and an owner of a service station. He loved to be with people and have company at home.Since his retirement, he and his wife have made their home at Pilot Knob, Mo., for the past 10 years.He is survived by his wife; two brothers, William and Lige Conway; two sisters, Mollie Meade and Lucy McGuirk; and a host of nieces and nephews.He accepted Christ as his personal savior and was a devoted, loving husband and was loved by everyone who knew him.Funeral services were conducted at Pewitt Chapel in Ellington on Monday, March 2, 1981, with the Rev. Rowland of Ironton officiating. Burial was at Ellington Memorial Cemetery; with Pewitt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Donald Conway, Leo Ritter, Ted Conway, Willard Conway, Dearl Conway and Bill Conway. Organist was Christine Volner.
