Odell (O.C.) Cagle Sr., 89, of Southport died Wednesday, December 31, 2008.
He was the son of Laler Caddell and Cleveland Cagle of Moore County. He was predeceased by a son, Darrell G. Cagle, and his wife of 65 years, Jessie Barnhardt Cagle.
Survivors include his son and primary family caregiver Odell C. Cagle Jr. of Southport; son and daughter-in-law Terry D. and Pat Cagle of Durham; daughter and son-in-law Joie C. and Hal Mahler of Caswell Beach; brother Norman Cagle of West End and sister Viola Seagroves of Colfax; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was a graduate of N.C. State University in leadership development and was retired from FCX. Mr. Cagle was active for many years with Steele Street Methodist Church in Sanford and Highland United Methodist Church in Raleigh. He served on the administrative board of both churches.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Miller-Boles Funeral Home in Sanford. Interment followed at Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford.
