New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Clayton "Bugga" David, 66, who passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008 in New Iberia.

Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum.

Rev. Joseph Stemmons will officiate. Readers will be his godchildren, Kim Darby and Kim David. Gift bearers include granddaughters, Heather Charpentier and Alexis Louviere. Alton Darby will give the eugoly.

A life long resident of New Iberia, Clayton was born on December 17, 1941 to Adam and Corinne Dugas David. He attended Mount Carmel Convent, St. Peter's College and graduated from Catholic High in 1959. Upon graduation he entered SLI majoring in business education. Later he enlisted in the Louisiana National Guard. Clayton was blessed with many friendships throughout his life. It was his career opportunities which afforded him this treasure. His path began by working for his parents at the fabulous 50's David's Drive Inn, then onto Abdalla's, New Iberia Wholesale Distributors, Iberia Savings and Loan, New Iberia National Bank and the Louisiana Department of Labor where he retired after 30 years of service. Clayton coached boys and girls at Evangeline Little League for several years. He was a former member of the Mount Carmel Cub Backers, Optimist Club and the CHS Panther Club. As hobbies he enjoyed cooking, fishing and woodworking. Clayton was talented in many ways, but art was his passion. Oil paintings of local scenes, historic buildings and oak trees were among his favorite. Most of all his greatest pleasure was to begin his day visiting with "old" friends at Victor's Cafeteria breakfast club exchanging "gossip" and reminiscing.

Survivors include his mother, Corinne Dugas David Desoto; daughter, Laura Anne D. Louviere and husband Christopher; grand daughters, Heather Charpentier and Alexis Louviere; grandson, Christopher Louviere, Jr. all of New Iberia; sister, Billie Jo D. Voorhies of St. Francisville; niece, Meya V. Holloway and husband Mark of Baton Rouge; great nephew, Cooper of Baton Rouge and his former wife Robbie Dale Folse David of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Adam P. David and step father, George Desoto.

Pallbearers include Ricky Clement, Steve Kristicevich, Christopher Louviere, David Williams, Harvey Warner, Travis Segura, Dave Armentor, and Joey Armentor.

Honorary pallbearers are Alton Darby, Gayle David, Keith Laperouse, Larry Desoto, Michael Hector and Judge Gerard B. Wattigny.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Consolota Nursing Home for their devotion and patience assisting Clayton in his daily needs and also to Fr. Robitaille, for his frequent visits. Special thanks and appreciation is extended to Hospice of Acadiana for their dedication and compassionate care given to him in his final days.
