A native of Copiah County, he served in the Navy during World War II and was retired as superintendent of the Hazlehurst Water Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ona Fairchild, five years ago.
Survivors are two stepsons, J. D. Denham and Frank Denham; three brothers, Reid J. Fairchild, Samuel L. Fairchild and Ray Fairchild; and one sister, Martha M. Diamond. Interment was in Hazlehurst cemetery with Stringer Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Pallbearers were Frank Ainsworth, Dennis Ryan, Fred Diamond, Tim Crutchfield and Tom Crutchfield.
