Theresa Sparks-Simon, 52, of Rochester, died Wednesday (Jan. 7, 2009) at Saint Marys Hospital.
Theresa Sparks was born Jan. 10, 1956, to Dale and Vera (Smith) Sparks in Waverly, Iowa. She graduated from Stewartville High School in 1974. After high school she spent five years in Florida, returning to Rochester in 1980. She worked as a laboratory technician at Mayo Clinic until 1990, and later worked as an education paraprofessional for the Rochester school district in 2002 until her illness. She enjoyed crafting, movies, and reading books.
On Sept. 2, 1988, she married Ken Simon at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Irene Simon of Rochester; a brother, Greg (Jean) Sparks of Onalaska, Wis.; a sister, Margaret (Fred) Holets of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Vera (Smith) Sparks.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home in Rochester, and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
