Pastor, Methodist Episcopal Church

For the last many years of his life, Rev. Payne was the pastor of a Methodist Episcopal Church, but he had his hardships as a young man. He married Miss Mildred Pearl YEAKEL in 1913 in Livingston County, Missouri. He was 22; she was 19. Soon, a son and a daughter were born to their marriage, but six years after they married, Mildred died, leaving Fred a young widower with two young children. In 1920, he was living by himself, in a boarding house, working in a button factory. In March 1923, he married again, to Miss Jennie LOHR. A son was born to Fred and Jennie, and before 1930, he became a minister. By 1930, he was living in McLean County, Illinois, the pastor at the Methodist Episcopal Church, living with his wife Jennie, their son, and his two children from his first marriage.

NOTE: After Fred died, Jennie 2ndly married Mr. Osterman.
