Marjorie 'Sally' Erne Saeugling, 82, formerly of Dubuque and Davenport, Iowa, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at the Bettendorf Health Care Center, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., with Deacon Timothy LoBianco officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born on June 22, 1926, in Dubuque, daughter of Joseph and Cleo (Drumm) Genz.
She married Donald Erne, on May 14, 1945; he preceded her in death in 1972. She then married Harold "Harry' Saeugling in 1973; he preceded her in death in 2004.
She had been employed at Farber Bag Co. and at Kennedy Mall as a security guard.
Sally loved to play cards, go to the gambling boat, and take care of her little dog, "Socks," her special companion.
Surviving are her daughter, Wendy Woodside, of Davenport; a stepdaughter, Sharon (Douglas) Harris, of Denver, Colo.; a grandson, Hunter Woodside; two stepgrandsons; four sisters, Darlene Genz, Ellyn (Joseph) Bechen and Sandy Tremble, all of Dubuque, and Beana Hatch, of Excelsior, Minn.; a brother, Dicki Drumm, of Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Janice), Roland (LaVerna), Paul, James, Rose, Patricia, Jean, Mildred and Sandra Saeugling; two god-daughters, Dawn McLaughlin and Connie Leuschner; nieces and nephews; and a dear friend "Betty."
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mitzi Fuller; and three brothers, Bobby Genz, Peter Drumm and Joseph Genz Jr.
