Marie Hegland, 85 of Oklee, MN died on Sunday, May 9, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 1999 at 2:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee with Reverend Robert Paulson Officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, 5 – 8 PM at the Petterson Funeral Home In Oklee and also one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Marie Skreland was born November 18, 1913 near Oklee, MN daughter of Osov and Annie (Heistad) Skreland. She was raised there and attended school in Oklee. In July of 1933 she was united in marriage to Gilman Hegland in Oklee, MN. The couple made their home three miles north of Oklee where they farmed and raised livestock. Gilman passed away in 1967. In 1981 she moved into Oklee where she had resided since.
Marie was a member of the Salem ELCW, enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and embroidery. She also enjoyed her flower garden.
She is survived by her daughter Berget Ganje (Carl) of Fargo, ND; granddaughter Janetta Guida (Kevin) of Moorhead, MN and great-grandchildren Bryant and Kayla Guida of Moorhead, MN. One brother Eivind Skreland of Oklee and one sister Christine Westberg of Warren, MN. Several nieces and nephews. Special friends Karla and George Johnson and family.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband Gilman, parents, infant daughter, brothers Taaraal, Gunsten and Knute; sisters include infant sister Mary, Mary Engebretson, Torbjor Skreland.
