Miss Rupert is Called in Death
Relative and friends of Mr and Mrs Jesse Rupert of Humtown were shocked and saddened this morning when news flashed over the wires telling of the death of their youngest daughter, Dorothy Viola, which occurred at 2:15 A.M. March 31.
Dorothy was born Nov 8, 1916 and had spend her entire life at the Maple Ridge Farm. She was a member of the freshman class at the Centralized school and had been ill for two weeks wich was the first time she had missed school since she was in the fourth grade. The dause of death was given as an infection from a slight attack of flue suffered curing the Christmas vacation, the poison having affected the heart and also caused rheumatism.
Funeral services will be had at the home, Maple Ridge Farm on No 7 Hiway near Humtown on Thursday at 2:30 P.M. with interment in the Columbiana Cemetery. Rev. J C Strubel of the Columbiana Presbyterian Church will be in charge of the service, assisted by Rev J M Cotton of Lisbon. Mr and Mrs Rupert are members of the New Waterford Presbyterian Church.
Besides the parents, there are four brothers and one sister remaining; Virginia, Victor, Vernon, and Williard at home and Walter who is a freshman at OSU. Mr. And Mrs. Enoch Rupert of Columbiana are grandparents of Dorothy.

Aug 20, 2012 - Interview with Irene Miller Houk:

Told a personal story about Dorothy Rupert who died young and tears fell from her eyes as she told it to me. ... it went as such... Dorothy Rupert, d/o Jesse Soloman and Mabel Catherine Bierman, was born with a heart problem. All the Rupert children had to get up early before school to do chores. They were held liable for them under the stricties circumstances. This particular morning, Dorothy did not feel well however went on to complete her chores at a slow pace, so slow she missed her school bus that morning. As a result, she walked to the High School. After being at school a while, she realized she did not feel well and her father was summoned to pick her up. Jesse Soloman did indeed pick her up and took her home where she went straight to bed. Her mother, Mabel, tending to her and asked her if she wanted anything. Dorothy requested only a drink of water. On that note, her mother promptly went to the bathroom, just around the corner from her room, and filled a glass of water. In that short time frame, when she returned to Dorothy's room, she found her dead.

Many in family would like a photo of her, however not a one has shown up in the household yet. Perhaps a school photo can be found in a yearbook. Very surprised Miss Lulu Bierman did not have a photo of her. 2015
