Martin Fred Moore, 89, of 4354 Ellisboro Road, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, December 24, 2008.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dan Ramsey and Reverend Joe Ervin officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

Mr. Moore was born on October 28, 1919, in Rockingham County, to the late Johnson Worley Moore and Orpha Lauzena Knight Moore. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, member of Madison United Methodist Church, and a life-long farmer. Mr. Moore was on the Board of Directors of Peoples Bank of N.C. and the local Board of Directors of First Citizens Bank.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, J.O. (Jake), Lindsey, Harvey and Ruben Moore and sister, Edna Pearman.

Survivors include wife of 66 years, Louise Neal Moore of the home, daughters, Gladys Joyce and husband, Donnie, of Stoneville, Carolyn Gooden of Raleigh, and Terri Redding of Greensboro; brothers, J.W. Moore, Jr. and wife, Betty and James (Jim) Moore, and wife, Juanita, both of Reidsville; grandchildren, Dean Gooden, David Gooden, Jason Joyce, Nikki Simpson, Brett Jones; step-grandchildren, Kasey Redding Bulford and Jason Redding; and great-grandchildren, Martin Jones, Kade and Kynan Joyce; sister-in-law, Polly Moore and brother-in-law, Tommy Pearman, and many nieces and nephews.
