Elizabeth's parents were George Wiggins (1815-1856) and Mary "Polly" Ann Key Wiggins (1816-1843). The Key family came to Gandy's Cove about the time that Alabama became a state. Polly died young and her burial place is unknown.

Died at Gandies Cove, Saturday morning, July 13, 1889, MRS. ELIZABETH BROWN, wife of John J. Brown, with bronchitis and slow fever. She was buried Saturday at 2:00 at the family grave yard. She has been a consistent member of the Methodist Church for eight years. She died leaving every evidence that her future was safe.
