Alberta "Bertie" Braden passed away on Friday; May 11, 2007. She was born Alberta Ruth Lucas, second child of Clem and Sandra (Rice) Lucas on September 20, 1961 in Buffalo, New York. In her early years she was raised between New York and Nebraska, but later moved to Michigan and Iowa, before returning to Nebraska. For twenty years she raised two children on her own as a single mother.

She was preceded in death by her son William; father Clem Lucas Sr.; brother Clem "Bud" Lucas Jr.; stepfather David Gerzeski; and Uncles William Rice, David, Charles
and George "Frank" Lucas; Aunts Betty (Lucas) Keller, Margaret (Lucas) LaFever, Ethel Nadine (Smith) Rice; as well as both sets of grandparents.

She is survived by four children; 3 Sisters; her mother, four grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

Ms Braden was well loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 15, 2007 from noon to 8:00, with the funeral Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 11:00 at the Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City, NE. Memorials are to be made to the family.
