He was born at Laird's Landing, between Tulelake and Dorris, California.
He completed grade school then obtained a degree in 1914 in animal husbandry at The Davis Farm School, which now is known as University of California at Davis.
He served in the U.S. Army in France during World War I.
After the war he homesteaded in Tulelake. He ran cattle and farmed there until his retirement in 1960.
He moved to Klamath Falls in 1986.
Mr. Laird was named Cattleman of the Year in Siskiyou County in 1977.
He was a memnber of the Masons' Canby Cross Lodge, fropm which he had a 50-year pin. He also was a member of Shriners and Elks Lodge.
His wife, the former Gladys Craddock, died in 1971.
Survivors include his sons Raymond Laird, Klamath Falls, and Robert Laird, Los Gatos, CA; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
