Services for John Thomas Barge 86, of Lufkin, are scheduled
for10 a.m. Saturday in The Oakley Metcalf Chapel with Rev. Fletcher Erwin Officiating Burial will be in the Barge Cemetery in Zavalla.
Mr. Barge, of 703 Nash Rd. died Thursday morning in a local hospital. He was a lifetime resident of Angelina County and had retired from the Federal Government.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mae of Lufkin; daughters Mrs. Doris Warrington of Texarkana and Mrs. Yvonne Henson of Houston; sons Roy A. of Zavalla; brother Jackson Barge of Zavalla; Sister, Mrs. Irene Ennis of Temple Texas; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
John Thomas was the 13 th. child born to Mary Ann Cryer Barge & John William Barge, Uncle Tommy as I called Him made his arival on Feb. 20, 1897 in Zavalla Texas.
What a loving Family this was and im sure Tommy Arrival came with lots of excitement !! # 13 Wow there was much to do and lots of kids to play with.
Uncle Tommy meet the Lovely Mae Segrist and they married and had 7 or 8 Children born to there marriage.
Tommy worked in his Brother Aaron's Store in Zavalla, Texas he was a Butcher by trade, he was a wonderful man always happy and a great big smile he loved his family dearly as we did him.
Tommy died May 5, 1983 and was buried in the Barge Cemetery
in Zavalla near his Parents & his Grandad Dr. Colin McIver Barge.
