Suzanne Joy Krantz, 14-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Krantz of Cushing, was killed late Wednesday night in a one-car accident five miles east and almost a mile north of Anthon.
Miss Krantz was a passenger in a car driven by Randy Edward Deeds, 16, authorities said. Young Deeds, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Deeds of Correctionville, was treated for injuries at a hospital and dismissed.
Dr. Thomas L. Coriden, Woodbury County medical examiner, said Miss Krantz died immediately of head injuries.
Investigating authorities reported the car went off the left side of the road and into a 25-foot-deep ditch, hitting a concrete culvert.
Deeds walked about a mile to a farm to report the accident, authorities said. Iowa Highway Patrolmen Richard Luitjens of Sioux City and Norman Buenger of Holstein investigated the accident.
The accident occurred near a farm where Miss Krantz had been staying overnight with a girl friend, officials reported.
Funeral services for Miss Krantz will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church at Correctionville. The Rev. C. W. Kerns will officiate. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery under direction of the Wilson-Hull Funeral Home of Correctionville.
Miss Krantz was born March 15, 1955, at Neola, Iowa. She moved to Correctionville with her parents in 1961, and the family later moved to Cushing. She was a freshman at Eastwood Community High School. She is survived by her parents.
