"Big Hamp" was a mechanic for Ford in Thomasville, NC. He was a gentle man that never raised his voice.
He died 11 days after my father's 13th birthday of a stroke. He left behind a wife, Hazel Marie Swicegood Vestal, 2 sons, Hampton Cater Vestal, Jr., Joseph Richard Vestal and daughter Joyce Ann Vestal. All now deceased.
I never knew my grandfather but through storied told by my father, "Little Hamp" But I know I would have loved him. He was very active in the community of Thomasville. A hard worker. A loving husband and father.
