Of Springfield, previously of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2006 in Dayton. She was born September 25, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Robert Hiland and Florence Percy (Fernon) Dewey. She was the wife of the late Edward Fox Smith whom she married August 7, 1948, mother of two sons, the late Edward F. Smith, Jr. and R. Dewey (Georgine) Smith of Broomall, Pennsylvania, a daughter, Virginia Gail (John) Stauffer of Springfield, a daughter-in-law, Susan Smith, Jr. of Milmont Park, Pennsylvania, a grandmother of six, and a great grandmother of two. Virginia graduated from Landsdowne High School and was employed by ARCO Chemical until retirement. She was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Fairborn, Ohio. She was also a member of Colonial Dames of America, the D.A.R., and ARCO Chemical Retirement Group. Services in Ohio will be conducted 5pm Saturday, August 26, 2006 in St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Fairborn. Services in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, to be held in Christ Episcopal Church with times to be announced at a later date. Adkins Funeral Home, Enon is assisting Virginia's family with her final wishes.

Her ashes are interred in the Memorial Garden of the Christ Church in Ridley Park
