Mrs. S. Ethel Boyd, 75, , a life resident of the community and active in the Women's Society of Christian Service many years, died Tuesday at White Ledge Nursing Home after a long illness. Active in Lakeside Methodist Church, Mrs. Boyd was a past president of the Joy Circle of WSCS. She was a member of the women's auxiliary of the National Association of Letter Carriers. She recently was awarded a life membership in the women's church organization, along with a gold pin, for her years of service. She was a past president of the Golden Age Club and a past president and chaplain of the Women's Benefit Association, an insurance lodge. Born Aug. 31, 1887, in Muskegon, she attended schools here. She was married Aug. 31, 1910, to Luray V. Boyd in Muskegon. Her husband died several years ago. She leaves a son, George, of Muskegon; two daughters, Mrs. Earl A. Cook of Muskegon and Mrs. Martin Sokolowski of Ravenna; a brother, Howard Allen of Muskegon; four sisters, Mrs. James Christopherson of West Branch, Mrs. William McMahon of Whitehall, Mrs. Howard McDonald of Muskegon and Mrs. Jack Fuller, also of Muskegon; and 14 granchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
