Paul Ardean Reser:

Beloved son of Carl Monroe Reser and Bertha Olive Buxton Reser. He was born on August 17, 1920, in Galion, Crawford County, Ohio.

Paul was a brother to Harold (Jack) Leland Reser, Esther Ruth Reser Byrley, and Virginia Mae Reser Yakumithis.

Paul was a Merchant Marine serving in WWII on the USS Jean Nicolet. The ship was attacked and destroyed by a Japanese submarine, I-8 about 700 miles south of Ceylon. He was forced to walk the plank and died at sea on July 2, 1944, at the age of 23.

Although he was never recovered, his grave marker is at Swamp College Cemetery next to his mother, Bertha Olive Buxton Reser.
