Born February 6, 1909 in Biddeford, he was the son of Thomas and Christie (Allen) Pate. He was a 1928 graduate of Thornton Academy and for several years was employed by the Saco Dairy Company. Later he was self-employed in the dairy business, and since 1941 had been employed by the Saco-Lowell Shops. He was a member of the Biddeford Advent Christian Church and Saco Lodge of the I.O.O.F.
Surviving are his widow Gladys (Record) Pate; one daughter, Priscilla (Pate) Gilbert and her husband Allan of Waynesboro, Pa.; two sons, Robert D. Pate and wife Clara of Saco, and Kenneth W. Pate and wife Sharon of Brighton, Ma.; one brother, Kenneth Pate of Biddeford; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 AM from the Dennett and Craig Funeral Home, 365 Main Street, Saco, with internment following in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
