STANLEY - The funeral for George Haywood Blakemore, 63, of Stanley will be held 2 p.m. today at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Mahlon Horst, and burial will be in Hilliards Chapel Cemetery in Stanley. Mr. Blakemore, a retired mechanic, died Friday evening at Western State Hospital in Staunton.
He was born May 12, 1919, in Page County and was a son of the late George R and Molly Virginia Seekford Blakemore. On Oct 4, 1941, he married the former Louise Virginia Pence, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Douglas Wayne Blakemore of Luray and Randall Lee and Beverly Allen Blakemore, both of Stanley; a daughter, Sharon Leggett of Stanley; two brothers, Paul Blakemore of Stanley and Billy Blakemore of Shenandoah; three sisters, Vallie Cave, Jeanette Pence and Jean Blakemore, all of Stanley; and four grandchildren.
