Girl Killed in Auto Accident Saturday
Caddo people were shocked and saddened Saturday when news of an accident spread: that Johnny Lou Beck, 11 years old, and been struck by an auto and severely injured.
The accident occurred at 11:15 Saturday morning. Death came at 2:15pm Monday at Evergreen Sanitarium in Durant, where the child had been taken after first aid had been rendered by Dr. Cochran. Here the work of skilled and careful physicians proved of no avail.
The funeral was held Tuesday at 2pm at the family home, internment in Caddo Cemetery.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. J. F. Parsons, and attended by a large number of friends of the family and schoolmates of the child.
Johnny Lou was the laughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Beck. She started to cross Buffalo street when she was hit by a Dodge roadster driven by Ted Richey, who immediately stopped and ran to the aid for the girl. He was going slowly a few feet behind a car in front, which the girl evidently saw and waited for it to pass. She ran in front of the Richey car. It seems from the evidence of eye witnesses to have been one of those unavoidable accidents that so frequently happen.
Johnny Lou was a sweet little child, beloved of all who knew her, at home, at school, at play.
The entire community sympathizes with the family in their affliction.
