Suggested edit: Nancy Kay Schmitt, 51, Springfield, died Wednesday evening in her home after a long illness. Born in Fort Hood, Texas, Nancy was a cosmetologist and a member of the High Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy (Lindsay) Pryor), and her son, Andrew C. Schmitt. Survivors included her husband, Andy Schmitt; a son, Jason Schmitt of Springfield; and a daughter, Shelly Messina of Strafford; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Messina; two sisters, Mary Jane Pryor and Patricia Kates, both of Springfield; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and many dear friends. Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Hazelwood Cemetery with Pastor Ralph Noble officiating under the direction of Klingner Mortuary. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. in the mortuary. The family suggests memorial donations to the American Lung Association. [Spfd News Leader dated 09 May 2003] .
