Tina Mary Adams, 92, Grand Marais, died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the North Shore Care Center, Grand Marais.

Tina was born April 29, 1916 to Mat and Mary (Ring) Matson in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Her parents came from Finland, eventually settling in Eagle River Wisconsin, where Tina grew up on their family farm during the Great Depression. As a young adult, she took care of her ailing parents until they passed away.
Tina then met Frank Adams. They married and had two sons. Construction jobs led to Colorado and the North Shore, where they eventually settled. Tina has been a resident of Grand Marais for almost fifty years.
She worked for many years in the U.S. Forest Service Senior Citizen program. One of her Forest Service tasks was gardening in front of the office. She became known to staff and visitors as the Flower Lady.
In addition to flowers, Tina raised two boys. She was quiet and shy, but battled fiercely to protect them. She scrimped and saved and did without to insure that her boys had clothes for school and food on the table. She did what had to be done. She was a good mother.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank; brother Ony Matson and sister Helen Daniels.
Tina is survived by her sons Scott Adams and Grant Adams; granddaughters Sarah Adams and Christina Adams; and grandson Sean Adams.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the North Shore Care Center Activity Fund.

A Memorial Service will take place in March 2009 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Grand Marais. Burial will be at Eagle River Cemetery, Eagle River, WI.
