Donald R. Albers, 81, of rural Sioux Falls, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004 at his home.
Service will be 2 PM Monday, Nov. 29 at Harrisburg United Methodist Church, with burial at Pleasant View Cemetery, Harrisburg.
Visitation begins at 2 PM Sunday, Nov. 28 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 2-3 PM.
Donald R. Albers, son of George and Ariel (McCain) Albers, was born June 24, 1923 on the family farm near Harrisburg. He grew up and received his education there.
Donald married Vivian Stene Smidt in Luverne, MN on June 24, 1953. He loved being a farmer and farmed in the Harrisburg area all his life, most of the time on the family homestead. He took great joy in working the land and raising cattle. He also enjoyed meeting with his friends for morning coffee. He was a member of Harrisburg United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian; 6 children, Carole Razayeski, Columbia, SC, Richard Smidt, Harrisburg, Dale Albers, Sioux Falls, Jolene (Danny) Erickson, Sioux Falls, Marlene (Charlie) Whitaker, Phoenix, AZ, Patty (Jon) Kramer, Boise, ID; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Raymond (Gloria) Albers, Hartford, SD; 1 sister, Irene Pirrung, Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
