JOSEPH ALEX MIXON, 81, of Memphis, retired employee of Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., died of cancer Friday at Methodist Hospital North. Services will be at noon Monday at Oaklawn Baptist Church, where he was a member, with burial in the church cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home Stage Road Chapel has charge. He was a World War II veteran. Mr. Mixon, the husband of Sallye C. Mixon, also leaves two sons, Joseph G. Mixon and David E. Mixon, both of Memphis; three sisters, Carrie Gorrell of Clarksdale, Miss., and Macie Dunn and Frances Griffin, both of Memphis, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
