He was the son of Rudolph and Eliza "Robertson" Turk. He married Mary Willis Mordecai, daughter of Henry Lane and Martha "Hinton" Mordecai. He was a Southern Railway Executive. He died at his home in Washington, DC, after 3 days illness from pneumonia, in the 50th year of his age. His remains were brought to Raleigh and interred in the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery.
